Ancure Endograft (Stent Graft)- problems

   Failure of the Ancure Endograft device can necessitate emergency surgery, and can cause death. Obviously, this is an enormous rate of failure, which raises serious concern for any patient implanted with the Ancure Endograft device. As a result of its misconduct, in June of 1993, Guidant pled guilty to criminal charges, and elected to cease manufacture of the Ancure Endograft device. At least 75 people died and 991 were injured after receiving the implants including Ancure Endograft according to FDA records. Twelve of those deaths were associated with malfunctions of the Ancure Endograft device that were never reported. Doctors often had problems implanting Ancure Endograft, with parts of the device getting stuck in arteries or trouble removing the Ancure Endograft's plastic sleeve. In one procedure, the surgeon would break the Ancure Endograft apart and remove it piece by piece if it got stuck. Problems with Ancure Endograft that is linked to several deaths were widely known at the company that manufactured it.
